  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small bakery team
  • Willingness to learn new decorating techniques
  • Previous cookie, cake, or bakery decorating experience is a plus, but not required

Schedule:

Approximately 20 hours per week to start, with additional hours available depending on customer orders and seasonal demand. Some schedule flexibility is helpful, particularly during busy holiday periods.

Pay:

$16.00–$17.50 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill.

Creative Work Samples
Please upload 1–3 examples of your artwork or other creative work. These do not need to be cookies or cakes. We would love to see examples of drawing, painting, crafts, cake decorating, calligraphy, or anything else that demonstrates your artistic ability.

We’re looking for a dependable, steady baker to handle much of our day-to-day baking and scratch production.

This is a hands-on production role with a 6:00 AM start, Monday through Friday during most of the year. After training, the baker works very independently and is responsible for keeping daily production moving, maintaining prepared dough inventory, and making sure baked products are ready when needed.

Professional baking experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train someone who enjoys baking, follows recipes carefully, works consistently, and takes real ownership of their responsibilities.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare cookie doughs and other bakery products from scratch using established recipes
  • Mix, portion, and store cookie dough for future production, generally allowing it to rest for at least 24 hours before baking
  • Maintain sufficient prepared-dough inventory to support upcoming bake schedules
  • Bake classic cookies, gourmet cookies, cookie cakes, shortbread cookies, rice crispy treats, and other bakery items
  • Prepare frostings and other ingredients used in bakery production
  • Follow daily production schedules and adjust your work based on inventory and upcoming orders
  • Monitor bake times, temperatures, product appearance, and consistency
  • Organize prepared dough, ingredients, and finished products so production runs efficiently
  • Wash dishes, utensils, bowls, sheet pans, and production equipment
  • Clean mixers, worktables, floors, and other bakery production areas
  • Stock ingredients and production supplies
  • Receive and put away ingredient and supply deliveries
  • Keep the baking area clean, organized, and ready for the next production day

This position does not normally involve customer service or decorating.

What We Are Looking For:

Reliability is especially important in this position. The baker begins production early in the morning, and much of the bakery’s daily workflow depends on that work being completed correctly and on schedule.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can reliably arrive and be ready to work at 6:00 AM
  • Is dependable, punctual, and consistent
  • Takes responsibility for getting the day’s production completed
  • Is comfortable working independently after training
  • Can follow recipes and production procedures accurately
  • Pays attention to consistency, measurements, bake times, and product quality
  • Can stay organized while managing several stages of production at once
  • Works steadily without requiring constant supervision
  • Communicates well with managers and coworkers
  • Maintains a positive, cooperative approach during busy production days
  • Is comfortable with repetitive production work and routine cleaning responsibilities
  • Has an interest in baking and learning how products are made from scratch

Previous professional baking experience is a plus, but not required. We are more interested in finding someone dependable who has the right attitude, enjoys baking, and can learn our production methods.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a typical 6:00 AM start, Monday through Friday.

During much of the year, the position generally averages approximately 30–40 hours per week, depending on order volume and production needs.

Holiday periods are significantly busier. During the holiday season, employees should expect:

  • Full-time hours
  • Additional workdays when needed
  • Overtime as production requires
  • Up to approximately 10 hours of overtime per week during particularly busy periods

Hours may fluctuate based on seasonal demand, production needs, and the availability and experience of seasonal staff.

Compensation

$16.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Physical and Practical Requirements

This position requires regular physical bakery work, including:

  • Standing and moving for extended periods
  • Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Lifting and moving ingredients, containers, trays, and supplies weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
  • Working around commercial mixers, ovens, sheet pans, and other bakery equipment
  • Regular cleaning, bending, reaching, and carrying
  • Working around common food allergens, including wheat, dairy, eggs, and nuts

How to Apply

Please submit below:

  • Your resume or basic employment history
  • Your current availability
  • Any relevant baking, kitchen, food-production, or similar experience
  • A short explanation of why this position interests you

Professional bakery experience is not required. If you enjoy baking at home or have other relevant hands-on experience, we would like to hear about that as well.
